BOGIĆEVICA FREERIDE CAMP 2025
Skitouring & Splitboarding Camp 2025
For the next year we have planned a skitouring & splitboard camp in Bogićevica from 13th to 16th of February. This time as well the camp will be organized in cooperation with the Eko katun "Gradine", the municipality of Plav, the Tourist Organization of Plav and the Prokletije National Park. The base of the camp will be at the same place in the "Gradine" eko katun at the foot of the snowiest valley in the Balkans (Bogićevica / Babino polje), the only place that had snow last winter. From there we will explore freeride lines and improve our knowledge. You will receive the exact plan a week before the camp, when we will have more information about the snow conditions and the weather forecast. Of course, it will also depend on the level of skiing skills of the group. In any case, this location offers the best conditions for this type of sport, and here we give you a tentative plan of activities.
The reason why we moved the date a little is the arrival of a guide from Chamonix. Cosmin Andor will be in Antarctica at the beginning of February, after which he will run the Arteryx freeride academy in St. Anton following which he will come to Prokletije to join us.

Besides Cosmin, we will have Zhivko Zhechev with us too (also an IFMGA guide) as he has already confirmed the dates.
It is mandatory to know your equipment and set it up before the camp. Especially if it is new or rented (skis/splitboards primarily).
Unlike previous years, this time there will be more guides and you will be in smaller groups so that you can work and learn more efficiently.
Day 1 / February 13th (Thursday)
Rooms and bungalows will be available from 2 PM. A welcome dinner is organized for all while the main meeting and presentation of the team and the camp program itself will start at 9 PM.
Day 2 / February 14th (Friday)
Breakfast starts at 8 AM, and since the activities start right after breakfast, make sure you are ready. We will check the equipment before breakfast, starting at 7 AM. The specific plan of activities depends on the conditions in the field, but tentatively, the "rookie" group will have an easier and shorter tour than the "advance" one. It is possible that the easier tour will start directly from the accommodation (to Kofiljača since we discovered new light lines this summer), and the "advance" group will go by transport to Bogićevica. After returning to accommodation and dinner, a workshop is planned. Depending on the previous day and the conditions in the field, every evening we will make and adjust a plan for tomorrow.
Day 3 / February 15th (Saturday)
Breakfast and departure to the field at the same time as the previous day. If the conditions allow, we will try to have some more challenging freerides. The evening is reserved for workshops and socializing.
Day 4 / February 16th (Sunday)
„Freeride day, hike to ride the best line in area.“ We will check out after lunch at 2PM.
Workshops:
- Equipment, innovation and proper use
- Different movement techniques depending on the terrain and snow conditions
- Avalanche and technical course
- Technique of driving in deep snow and specificity of the region
- Equipment maintenance
Knowledge level:
This camp is intended for good, experienced skiers and boarders who must have at least 10 days of active riding in the upcoming season before the camp. You must be confident and physically fit for all types of snow and terrain conditions. From deep and powdery snow, wet and sticky, to hard one. If you are not sure of your level of fitness and technical knowledge of off-piste skiing, there is a possibility that you will not be able to follow all the facilities at the camp.
If necessary, take lessons from serious ski/snowboard instructors and don't hesitate to consult us about it. The same goes for fitness. If the winter starts well, and it will according to the forecasts, we will certainly have weekend tours before this camp about which we will inform you in due time.

You can find attached a separate pdf document with all the details / pictures of EQUIPMENT SKI SPLIT COURSE 2025.pdfIn the document you can find a complete list of recommended and mandatory equipment:

Support
Logistics. Transport from Plav to the race base if required (you must confirm two weeks before arrival), excellent accommodation for that location, on a half-board basis. Advice on equipment, rental or borrowing. Transportation of equipment by trailer from the accommodation to Bogićevica (serious SUV with racks, due to high snow and impassability). Cleaning of the road to Bogićevica by the municipality for the needs of the camp.
What’s not included in the camp?
Your equipment, sports insurance. Lunch packages, snacks and food for the day outdoors. Entrance to the National Park if the ramp works (minimal chances). Various drinks and additional food in accommodation. Your arrival.
Practical information:
- We recommend electrolytes, protein bars, salt sticks and gels. Also nuts for backpacks since the tours are demanding and can be tiring.
- Make sure you have utensils for small repairs in the field (pliers, screwdriver, shoelaces, tool for cleaning bindings and removing ice and snow).
- Wax.
- The peaks from which we ride are over 2,300 meters above sea level.
- Three houses can accommodate 18 people comfortably (5-8-5), above that only bungalows are available (sleeping bags are mandatory for bungalows since there is only one heater per bungalow).
- We will connect you for the shared transport, as in previous years. Winter tires, a small shovel and chains are mandatory equipment for the vehicle you come by if you decide to come all the way to Gradine. It is highly recommended to park in the lower parking lot in that case.
- The accommodation has wi-fi as well as network signal, it is located at 1,100 meters above sea level. The water in the system is spring water. Roaming does not exist for the networks of the Western Balkans.
- The camp base has a central facility for meals and lectures.
- If you plan to rent ski & splitboard equipment, we advise you to do so in good time. We are here for all recommendations and contact. An avalanche kit is mandatory for every participant!
- We recommend sports and mountaineering insurance for 2025 through Slovenian clubs https://clanarina.pzs.si/predstavitev-zavarovanj
